Mark Gabbertas >>

Mark Gabbertas established his design studio in 1992 after training as a cabinet-maker. Initially he practised as a designer-maker and was commissioned by Tate Britain and the Geffrye Museum amongst others, before concentrating on design and working with international manufacturers. His work has been exhibited around the world and been acknowledged through a numbers of industry awards and extensive publication.

It is only after 15 years work that is has become clear to him that the defining objective of his design process is the creation of character through simplicity. This approach helps to guide the design of products towards a lasting aesthetic…… which therefore are not wholly subject to the vagaries of fashion. At the same time, the design of an object is heavily influenced by an appreciation of the commercial realities that surround it – if a great looking design does not sell, perhaps it is not such a great design.
